5K What to Expect:
Our 5K run follows a great course that starts and finishes at Virgil Gibbons Heritage Park just like the 1 mile and Kids runs do. If you are you running the 5K for the fun of it and want to earn a fabulous prize, feel free to dress the part see the Creative Categories tab for details. More of a serious runner, this is your race: plan on a well marked fast and relatively flat course with professional no touch chip timing, a nice shirt, runner cards signature finish line results, and fabulous prizes for top finishers of each division. Whether you are going for a PR or just having fun, you will enjoy our post race awards and raffle following the race.

Exclusive 5K Creative Categories:

Not sure you can win your age bracket? NOW is your chance to earn a prize and well deserved recognition.

Best Parent Child Finishline Performance: Kids get your parents to loosen up a bit and have some fun, lets make that finish line memorable, as you perform for a chance at a special prize! Parent(s) and their child(ren) must be together at the finishline, finishing at the most seconds a part for the judges to consider their performance. Costumes are encouraged but not required. Extra style points will be given for spins, cartwheels, dance moves, skipping, leaping, pirouettes, and big smiles. IDEAS

Stroller Racer: So you have a little one that has changed your life, but you still want to stay fit and enjoy some quality time with them. Well the pioneers went over 1,000 miles pushing and pulling creaky wood hand carts. You can cover a few miles in that slick jogging stroller. Most of the course is on a hard surface with a few patches of grass to negotiate, no icy river crossings, sand traps, or rocky ridges. Our course is smooth and relatively flat.

Canine Runner: Top dog finishers with their owner (on leash) will earn a prize. The dog must be a living breathing dog that walks/runs on their own paws, (sorry no stuffed animals).
